Is a Whoodle a good family pet?

Whoodles are very happy, friendly pups. They tend to love everyone and blend well into families. Whoodles are known for being: friendly, intelligent, loving, affectionate, and playful. Whoodles are non-aggressive dogs that get along well with children, and other family pets, making them a great addition to a family.

How much will my puppy cost?

The cost of a Whoodle puppy is $2200, which includes the $500 deposit when you go on the Reservation List. The deposit is non refundable but is transferable to another litter. For families who already have a WnS pup your fee never goes up. We will offer any additional pups at the same fee. Thats how much we love when our pups get to grow up with siblings or cousins.

How big will my puppy get?
Our girls are small for Soft Coat Wheaten Terriers, 25 lbs, typically 30-35 lbs. When we cross with a toy poodle we expect the puppies to be between 15-20 lbs when adults, however we occasionally as in this last litter have tiny pups we expect to be around 10-12 lbs as adults. When we cross with a miniature poodle we expect the puppies to be between 20-25 lbs as adults. When we cross with a standard poodle we expect the puppies to be 25-35 lbs when adults. However, this is not a guarantee just an estimate.

What should I expect to be the grooming needs for my puppy?
We groom our dogs seasonally, that’s one time each season. We keep them in a very short puppy cut in the warm months, then a little longer in the cold weather. A good brushing twice a week will keep their coats healthy. While Whoodles do not shed, they will need to have loose hair brushed out to keep them looking tidy. Whoodles may seek shade and lay low on the hotter days, especially with a longer coat. They tend to LOVE the winter and especially the snow. Tala, Scout, and Crosby, never want to come in when it snows.

How hard is it to train a Whoodle?

Whoodles learn fairly quickly. Some even go on to be service/therapy dogs. Whoodles should be trained with a gently hand, not with a harsh tone or style. They have tender hearts and will benefit from positive reinforcement while training.

Will I get to choose my puppy?
Yes, We will keep the Facebook page up to date with pictures and personality observations. After the puppies have been examined by our vet, usually around 6 weeks, we will have Puppy Selection Day. We will start with the first position on the reservation list and continue down the list until all puppies are selected. We will update the selections via Facebook. You will be notified in advance of when Puppy Selection Day will be, often the same day or the day after their 6 week vet exam. Breeder always reserves the right to pick of the litter.

Can I come visit the puppies?
Yes, if you would like to meet the puppies, we will have a puppy visitation weekend sometime when the puppies are between 4-5 weeks of age. We do not allow visitors before 4 weeks of age to protect the puppies immune systems.

How will my puppy be socialized before coming home?

The first 3 months of a puppies life is an important time for socialization. While in our home puppies are exposed to adults and children of different ages and abilities, along with our other dogs. We are intentional about exposing them to household noises like the vacuum, blender, slammed doors, and the never ending household projects. When the puppies are old enough to go outside they are exposed to outdoor noises, farm machinery, trains, chickens, and cars. It is always our goal to have well socialized puppies for you to continue socializing.

Are Whoodles hypo-allergenic?

They are considered a suitable breed for allergy sufferers. Both breeds that make up a Whoodle are non-shedding. Because you are making a serious commitment to a puppy, please reach out to a Whoodle owner if you do have allergies, to be sure you do not have any issues.

Do I need to buy a crate for my puppy?

Yes, we highly recommend crate training your puppy. It is in the best interest of both you and your puppy. It not only gives your puppy a sense of comfort having their own space, but it is also a comfort to you knowing where he is sleeping and that he is safe.

When can my puppy come home?

All puppies go home at 8 weeks. If this timing conflicts with family travels we are happy to keep your puppy for an extended stay for an additional $20 per day. If the puppy becomes due for any shots during that time we are happy to take them to our vet for those shots. The additional charge for shots is between $25-30.

Do you offer puppy training?

Beginning in the fall 2021 we are offering puppy training for a limited amount of puppies. For an additional $700, the puppy stays for one additional week and we work on crate/house training.
